Q&A with American Verse

Hi my name is Deborah, let’s start off with.. What’s the name of your band?

The name of our band is American Verse.

How many band members do you have; What are your names, and who plays what instruments?

There are 4 members of our band, Brian Murphy plays Bass, Steve Yanchuk plays Drums, Joe Prew plays Lead Guitar, and I, Dylan Massucco play Guitar and Sing.

Where do you hail from?

We are from Worcester, Massachusetts.

How did you guys get started?

Joe, Brian, and I use to be in a band back in high school called From The Heart, we broke up in 2007 and I spent some time playing shows solo around MA. Then in the summer of 2009 I was asked to join the band Beyond City Lights and that’s were I met Steve. Steve and I both quit that band in the spring of 2010 and decided to start a new band so we asked Brian to join on bass and we had our friend Zach play lead guitar but he soon left to join the army and that’s when we got Joe to come in as lead guitarist and American Verse was born.

What are some of your influences?

Saves The Day, Alkaline Trio, Hot Rod Circuit, Suicide File, Foo Fighters, Blink-182.

What do you consider your genre to be?

We are a rock band.

You’ve just recently started your tour with Follow Your Hero, how’s it so far?

Tour has been a blast! the guys in FYH are awesome, and we’ve played some really rad venues and met some really sweet people along the way.

What states are you touring through?

NJ, VA, NC, GA, TN, IN, and a few others.

Have you had anything insane happen to you yet while on tour? Or when you’ve headed to a show in the past?

We recently got pulled over in IN, they brought a dog and searched our whole van and all our backpacks, they found a small amount of contraband but luckily no one was arrested, the cops were pretty nice for being IN state troopers, one of them was even quoting Super Troopers with us. The dog was adorable.

What is the name of your latest EP? And are you working on anything now?

Our latest EP is called ” Heaven’s In Your Head ” and its coming out on Better Days Records at the end of the summer so please keep your eyes open for it! and we are currently demoing some new songs, they are pretty rad.

Do you have any accomplishments this year, and what are they?

1 or 2 other releases by the end of the year, also to do a full US tour.

Where would you like to see yourself a year or two from now?

We would like to see ourselves in our van touring around the country playing music.

Well this concludes the Q&A, where can your band be found via social networks and alike?

You can find us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/americanverse), also we have a bandcamp, and a big cartel, and a purevolume, just google us!

I’ll give your band the last word to say whatever you’d like!

We’d like to say thank you Deborah for the interview and thank you to anyone who takes the time to read it, also please check us out on one of our many websites and come to our shows and hang out with us, we might even give you a nickname.
